The Kenyan operation British-American Insurance Company was established in 1965 and has over 46 years of service in the Kenyan market providing individual life, group life, pensions, healthcare and property/casualty insurance.

The asset base of British-American in Kenya is in excess of Ksh 25 billion with brand equity value in excess of Ksh 6 billion.

British-American Insurance Company

British-American Insurance Company has evolved over the years since its inception in Kenya in 1965. The company has grown from a home service based company to its current position as a financial services provider.

In 2004 there was a share swap whereby the ownership of British-American Insurance Company moved to British-American Investments Company. British-American Investments Company in turn established British-American Asset Managers Ltd . After the successful launch of British-American Asset Managers, the group reorganised its structure. The new organisation structure came into place in January 2007.

The company has grown tremendously. The total gross premium as at 31st Dec 2010 was Ksh 4.3 billion while the total assets were Ksh 25.4 billion. Investment income was over Ksh 4.7 billion by 25th Dec 2010.

The human resource has also grown from 29 employees and 50 agents in 1980 to 300 employees and 1000 agents in 2010.

British-American Asset Managers

British-American Asset Managers was established in 2004 to offer asset management and investment advisory services to individuals and institutional clients and address a growing need for innovative investment products and services.

British-American Asset Managers is licensed as a Fund Manager by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA).

Currently the firm manages over Ksh 17.5 billion in Assets under management with over 6,500 clients.

The firm has procured a state-of-the art Investment Administration and Fund Management System – The Advent Office, to enhance operational efficiencies and high-standards of customer service.
